Hmm, at 3pm, i'll would begin my long journey back to my prison aka NS camp. T^T So, this would be my last words before leaving. Listen carefully and appreciate all of my words. You might not hear from me again. Choi choi! It wasn't as if i'll be dying. LOL. I am just joking. Stay with me. I'll be back!!
Before this post, all i have been blogging about is my complaints about NS. Well, today i will change my course into the positive view. :) NS is not all that bad. If i did not get some kind of allergy reaction there (refer to a post called 4th of February), i would be rather happy to be in NS. If i have the skin which can never grow darker, i would say my blessings to God. All in all, NS isn't as bad as it sounds. Afterall, we eat SIX times a day! (six again).
I must admit that the food isn't all the nice. Then again, what can we expect? We are undergoing NS. We certainly can't expect 5 star classed food.Besides, through my experience in NS, i have learnt to appreciate food. Last time, back at home, i'll never touch an empty bun. I would not eat a simple slice of bread coated in butter and sugar. I will be reluctant to eat strange-looking food. But now, you could almost say that i am a changed person. I eat whatever served to me unless i want to eat plain white rice. Whenever they served bread/bun, i would eat it without complaining. In fact, i sort of like eating bread/bun. My taste buds had changed. I have been eating food that i dislike for more then a month that now i am rather fond of them.
As for our activities, we certainly DON'T march the whole day, 7 days in a week. So far, from the first day i am in NS till now, we have only marched twice. For me, once as i was in MC during the second marching activity. We spend most of our time in class doing typical school stuff. Some of us, me most probably, find the classes boring but some actually have fun in the classes. We were given magic colours with workbooks ! We even have games in class! Each class will have two teachers. The teachers will take turns crapping in front. Who cares! i usually turn a deaf ear and try my very best not to sleep. I would rather stay in class with the fans then to go out in the sun. So, i am fine with the classes.
Then, about the morning excercise. Sure that we have to wake up early and etc but do you know that every morning at 6.15am, we get the golden opportunity to see the stars? Back in my NS camp, we would dragged ourselves to the marching field sleepily. Once we are there, we would lie on our back and admire the stars above. In my entire life, i have never seen such many beautiful and bright starts. We could actually point out the Northen Star and Aquarious! Now, that is an experience of a lifetime. We are also fortunate enough to have a gorgeous scenery around our camp. We have trees and mountains surrounding us. In the morning and evening or after raining, mist can be seen gathering at the mountain top. We also watched the sun rise and set everyday. Besides, exercising is good for health! One might actually grow thinner. :)
Physical activities might be a problem as we are exposed to the hot sun but...there is always a but..the teachers aren't that cruel. Sometimes, they are considerate enough to give us a break in the shade. Some, physical activity are fun. Marching is of course not one of them. Kayak-ing, shooting, flyingfox, running across obstacle course, 'tali rendah', jungle tracking and the art of self defense are some of the fun physical activities. Sometimes, instead of having these activities, we have talks instead. Okay, that might be boring but its the best time to catch up some sleep. :)
The most important thing of all is that we managed to expand our circle of friends in NS. Like me who's terrible in Mandarin, have an okay Cantonese, speaks with a slang of almost perfect Malay and a 99.99% perfection of English have a tiny bit of difficulty in making friends as a majority of the Chinese there speak Mandarin and have a poor command of Cantonese,Malay and English. But, i am proud to say that, the Chinese and a certain others are very friendly. They were patient with my lacked of communication skill. They helped me when i am in need. There are of course still some that are 'not so nice' but the good outweights the bad. I am glad that i was given a chance to know these good people. May God bless them all!
